Hello. My name is Aaron Pabon, Anchor and Managing Editor of Game Journalism Network (GameJournalism.net).
GJN is in the process of planing and hosting Airplay 2, a continuation of the SPJ Airplay panels that were hosted at Forging the Future 2015.
These panels were about questioning the ethical standards in gameing journalism, and about the controversey known as GamerGate.
The orignal conversation, however, was cut short, due to multiple bomb threats.
The next AirPlay, will be hosted at a TBA location in Tampa, Florida in February, 2016 (exact date TBA)
Security will be a high priority, and this time around we will that the highest precautions are taken with no expense spared to ensure the safety of event attendees and panelists. We've learned from the first AirPlay and will ensure that no false bomb threats, violent threats, protest, or dangerous individuals will harm the attendees or silence this open discussion. Police will be present, private security will be hired, and regular sweeps of the building will be made to ensure the building is 100% secure.
AirPlay 2 will be live streamed on GJN's YouTube channel, and will both pick up where the last AirPlay left off, host a new discussion and formal debate, and separate from the main panel room will will a secondary panel room for speakers or groups of speakers to host their own live panels. These are open to whatever subject the speakers requesting decide on.
For security, funds for securing the location, and equipment for adequate live streaming, we are looking for $10,000.
We will need at least $5,000 by November 30th for some cores costs, and the rest by December 31st.
GJN will be transparent with both the funds, and funders. In addition, we will post detailed receipts on it's website at gamejournalism.net
We want to make it clear that this is neither a pro or anti Gamergate event. GJN is hoping for this to be a neutral zone for an open discussion for both sides of the issues related to the controversy, and a place to document this.
