As Anthony shakes off the lingering jet lag Ted sat down to put together a short Halloween inspired episode to fill the gap. With the holiday season came the annual urge to dig out a few classic horror films, and this time decided to make some introductions to a first time viewer. Previous guest host Alexis joined in to watch the original 1968 Night of the Living Dead and share some impressions. How does it hold up a few generations removed from its midnight screening era? Do the zombies inspire any sort of fear to the jaded and cynical youth of 2013? Listen in as we chat about an old favourite… from a new point of view.
And that’s not all. Subsequent to screening Romero’s classic, the zombie filmfest was bookended by one of the most recent outings – World War Z. So once again we hear some comments about whether the PG-13 mega-budget approach was effective for the younger market, and of course what Alexis thought of Brad Pitt’s hair.It’s just a fun and light episode meant to serve as a reminder that amongst all the vitriol and complaining that goes on, there is an inner-genre fan that just wants to have fun on the edge of their seat.
John in Ireland adds the final portion of the show with his review of Ender’s Game. This voicemail was received two weeks ago coinciding with the early release ahead of North America but as listeners know, the past few weeks have been rather unusual so apologies for the delay.
