As a writer, I was lucky enough – and as a fanboy, I was thrilled – to be able to catch up with Rob Zombie while he was in Los Angeles promoting his new film, The Lords of Salem. The hard rocker image and indoor sunglasses actually belie the fact that he’s one of the most jovial, down-to-earth, and well-spoken individuals I could ever hope to interview. We hit a couple of points about his experiences making Lords, but were also able to delve briefly into his personal history with the horror genre and his early experiences that helped shape his love for it.
Unfortunately, the techies who wired me up fitted me with a mic that didn’t work, so major kudos to Ilan for what he’s done to fix the audio so you can actually understand me.
