RPG News: Chaosium/Call Of Cthulhu 2012 Adventure Contests

http://www.chaosium.com/article.php?story_id=518

From chaosium.com-

It's time to start a new round of Chaosium Adventure Contests. We're running two contests at the same time. We're also changing things up this year. There won't be a Halloween Adventure contest this time around. Maybe next year.

Call of Cthulhu 2012 Adventure Contest: Any era, any time, any place.

BRP Science Fiction Adventure Contest: Mutants, Aliens, Star Ships, Meteor Impacts, Etc.

Authors have until August 30th, 2012 to submit a 5,000 - 10,000 word adventure for either contest or indeed both of them.

The winning submissions for each contest will be gathered together into a Chaosium.com monograph to be released in book and PDF format later this year. Contest winners will receive both a physical copy of the monograph in which their entry is printed as well as a $50.00 gift certificate to our online catalog.

Contest Rules

Each entry must be an original adventure between 5,000 - 10,000 words. Text files only. Don’t submit Word docs, PDF’s, quark files, etc. Artwork can be sent along with your adventure (see below) but is not required.
Your text document submission must include your name, email address, and shipping address. You must also include a list of the artwork you are submitting with the adventure if applicable. Entries must be submitted by email to dustin@chaosium.com on or before August 30th, 2011.

One entry per individual, per contest. Yes you can enter both contests.

The adventure must be your original creation using either our current BRP rules for the BRP Adventure Contest or our current Call of Cthulhu rules for our CoC contest.

All winning entries become the property of Chaosium Inc.

All entries must be in English. No, really.

In the unlikely event that we don't receive enough winning entries to print the BRP adventure monograph, the winners will instead receive copies of all the winning adventures as well as one copy of a different monograph.

Chaosium reserves the right to change these rules as often as we like, with no warning. You can count on the fact that we probably will. Come to think of it, maybe we have already... It's best not to dwell on these things.

Art Guidelines.

Artwork is not required, if you do include artwork & maps, you must adhere to the following:
All artwork must be 300dpi grayscale tiff images.
The name of your adventure must be included in the image name. You can use an abbreviation if needed, so long as it is *painfully obvious* that the image matches your adventure name. Image names should include a number to differentiate them from other images for your adventure. (see below)
Your adventure text must specify where the images should ideally appear. Use an ***insert here*** tag. (see below)
Your adventure should include a list of the images you are submitting along with your adventure.
Any images or maps that accompany your adventure must be copyright free.
Example. For an adventure entitled "Los Space Zombies of Agua Dulce Rise Again" use a tag similar to ***Insert loszombies1.tiff here*** within the text of your adventure where your first image would ideally appear.
Our layout staff may not place the artwork exactly where you called for it based upon how the page layout evolves.
