Zombie Game News: Announcing Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Build

From Left 4 Dead Blog:

"The L4D2 Beta is mutating. Not content to just be the testing ground for the new Extended Mutation System, we will be adding Linux to the Beta. And not content with the number of testers in the Beta, we will also be opening up the Beta to all L4D2 owners.

Huh, what?

The L4D2 Beta build is a separate download from the main game. This is where we are testing new features to the game – currently we are testing EMS. Starting next week, we will be testing Linux there as well.

This code churns more frequently than the main game depot, so if you are bandwidth constrained, you might want to wait for the changes to move to the main game.

If you are playing the Beta game, you can only connect to other players in the Beta and to Beta servers.

Next week it will appear in your library alongside the main L4D2 game.

You do not need to enter a code to gain access and it is totally voluntary to download and participate in the Beta.

For modders currently in the Beta, now would be a good time to update your current work and get ready for a whole bunch of new testers.

For players, not only is the Linux build new, but the Window and Mac versions are also updated, so we need plenty of non-Linux testing as well.

When the Beta expands next week, we will post on how you can help give feedback and participate in the Beta."

Zombie Game News: Zombies shamble into Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising

Beginning 16th May, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC players will have the opportunity to play Uprising, Activision and Treyarch’s second epic DLC Map Pack for the record-breaking Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Uprising. This includes four new multiplayer maps, plus “Mob of the Dead,” a bone-chilling new Zombies experience that takes players to the notorious prison island of Alcatraz. Several of Hollywood’s most iconic actors round out the cast of Prohibition-era mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri and Joe Pantoliano to bring this horrifying adventure to life.

Following the tradition of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops fan-favorite Zombies mode “Call of the Dead,” Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising’s wildly creative new “Mob of the Dead” Zombies experience puts players on the island of Alcatraz, in the shoes of the four mobsters: Billy Handsome (Liotta), Al “The Weasel” Arlington (Pantoliano), Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca (Palminteri) and Michael “Finn” O’Leary (Madsen). All four are serving time in Alcatraz Prison, only to discover that being behind bars is the least of their problems. In order to survive, players must work their way through the steel cells and ageing concrete buildings while fighting off a multitude of zombified prisoners and guards trapped on the island with them.

Game News: Full Metal Rocket DLC Arrives For Painkiller Hell & Damnation

Nordic Games and The Farm 51 are excited to announce that Full Metal Rocket, the fourth DLC from Painkiller Hell & Damnation is available to download from Steam today.

The latest edition to the Painkiller DLC roadmap focuses on the multiplayer elements of the game. Full Metal Rocket features three new hellish multiplayer maps in gore-ious HD, new multiplayer skins, brutal enemies and a weapon along with a new Survival mode which features its own dedicated leader board.

You can Download Full Metal Rocket from Steam for only USD/EUR 3.99, GBP 2.99.

“With previous releases of Painkiller Hell & Damnation DLCs we got tons of feedback and fans asking for more content,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games. “We always want our players to be fully challenged, so with this DLC we have decided to concentrate on the multiplayer elements of the game to give them a truly immersive, hellish experience.”

The full list of features in Full Metal Rocket includes:

Three classic multiplayer maps now shine in their HD glory including new gameplay options: Meatless, Blink, Mines suited for different modes (Survival, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag), featuring the new Survival mode style
New Survival mode: single player Survival mode with dedicated Leaderboards: play with limited ammo, and avoid being killed to gain access to weapon lockers and to proceed to the next area

One new HD map for all multiplayer modes: Prison

Also released today is the Painkiller Hell & Damnation DLC Bundle 1. The bundle contains all 4 of the Painkiller DLCs: Medieval Horror, The Clock Strikes Meat Night, Operation “Zombie Bunker” and Full Metal Rocket and can be downloaded from Steam for USD/EUR 14.99, GBP 13.99.

Painkiller Hell & Damnation will be released for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system from Sony on May 31 st. Painkiller takes players on a demonic ride through. The campaign features an all-action crusade that can be played in single player mode, co-operative mode across four chapters, and several multiplayer-modes. A vast array of demons and fiends will be encountered along the way.

Zombie Game News: Resident Evil Revelations Demo Preparing For Release

Horror fans will soon be able to get a taste of Resident Evil Revelations with the upcoming release of a downloadable demo for Xbox LIVE, PSN, Nintendo eShop and Steam. Exact release dates to be confirmed shortly.

Acting on orders from the BSAA director, the demo will see players infiltrating the cruise ship ‘Queen Zenobia’ as Jill Valentine and attempt to rescue missing fellow BSAA members Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat whose last known location pinpointed them onboard.
Also available today is the first in a weekly series of Developer Diaries featuring interviews with the team behind Resident Evil Revelations. Today’s video takes a look at the heritage and horror of Resident Evil.

Gamers will be able to experience the full game when Resident Evil Revelations releases on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC in North America on May 21 and across Europe on May 24.

Game News: New Characters Unveiled For Deadpool

Sooo, uhhhh, APPARENTLY there are characters in my new upcoming Activision game, DEADPOOL, who are not Deadpool! Right??

I thought it was pretty clear when I said I wanted a true Deadpool game that it would star Deadpool...in every role! My star power shouldn't be limited to the central protagonist. I should be playing the hero, the anti-hero, the villain who eventually changes sides to join forces against the TRUE villain (me), the romantic interest, the quirky best friend, the comic relief, and at least 8 other characters in fat suits! Is that too much to ask?!

But...I've been talking to my therapist...and she says it's important that I not allow the existence of other people who are not me to determine my own self-worth. I just have to be the best unhinged mutant mercenary I can be. So, here's a look at some of the...other...characters you can meet in DEADPOOL…

Game News: Trailer for Ride to Hell: Route 666 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Deep Silver today is putting the pedal to the metal with more details on the upcoming action game Ride to Hell: Route 666. In the world’s first real time tactics beat’em up, players will beef up their pack of road warriors, provide them with the right gear, and take them to the streets in a merciless battle for every mile of the legendary Route 66. The trip starts this summer, when the game is scheduled to hit the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Steam.

Tactics are essential when up against a colorful cast of enemies. Players will be able to bark orders at their fearless gang members to bring them into the right formation on-the-fly with easy, accessible controls. Clever tactics will be rewarded, opening up enemy defenses and allowing you to get in on the action: as the leader of this lawless bunch, you can support your warriors at the front line or issue instructions from the back. Pick up and play action controls allow the players to get involved in the fight at any time. You’ll also be recruiting new members to join your gang, with each one bringing their own special abilities to a fight, from big bad bruisers to sultry medics.

Ride to Hell: Route 666 is set within the Ride to Hell universe, a world of bare-knuckle violence, and rip-roaring motorcycles. Later this year the setting will be extended by two further titles featuring the unique and incomparable biker lifestyle; Ride to Hell: Retribution and Ride to Hell: Beatdown.

Ride to Hell: Retribution tells the story of a lone rider, Jake Conway, a man with either a gun in his hand or a girl on his lap (and on more than one occasion both!). He’s on a merciless path of revenge against a brutal biker gang called The Devil’s Hand, armed to the teeth with an arsenal of deadly weapons to enact his vengeance on foot and on bike. The only law Jake answers to is his own. Hit hard, ride fast and leave 'em in the dust June 2013 for Xbox 360, Windows PC, and PlayStation 3.
